Google Assistant is built into Android as the default virtual assistant for asking questions, getting information, and performing tasks. However, it can also serve the same role on your iPhone or iPad. Yes, Siri is still more convenient and accessible on an Apple device, but those who already have a Google account with personalized information and settings may want to try Google Assistant as an alternative.
Compatible devices required
Quickly open your favourite app, navigate your phone and manage your phone settings easily – turn on Do Not Disturb, adjust your Bluetooth and aeroplane mode settings, and turn the torch on, all using just your voice.
Set Up Google Assistant
Android devices should come with Google Assistant preinstalled, but you can also download the app from Google Play. It requires Android 5.0 or higher and the Google app version 6.13. To configure Google Assistant on Android, go to Settings > Google > Account Services > Search, Assistant & Voice > Google Assistant.

If you have an iPhone or iPad, you can grab the app from the Apple Store. You will need to be running iOS 11 or higher on your device. On iOS/iPadOS, open the Google Assistant app and tap your profile icon in the upper right, where you can review the array of settings and options.
